DESCRIPTION

Roya Mahboob is a 25-year-old business woman and one of the only female CEOs in Afghanistan, which made her one of the most anticipated speakers at TEDx Kabul. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. Mahboob's company, Citadel Software, provides "computer, Internet, and software assistance to schools, hospitals, and businesses in western Afghanistan." It also partners with Film Annex to build Internet classrooms in high schools in Afghanistan. Mahboob believes that Afghanistan, as a developing country, needs to involve women in economy, government, leadership and human rights sectors, where they can equally work with men. She states that, ICT, as a new sector, can play a very important role to support and empower women in Afghanistan.
