Transmute
DESCRIPTION
After producing ‘Cubic Morph’, I still had the urge to explore similar concepts and visuals. So I started to think about how I could further develop the idea of morphing shapes and shifting them in a three dimensional space. Working again with Element 3D and After Effects, I started to push the capabilities of Element 3D’s animation engine, this time morphing collections of cubic mass from one rudimentary shape into another. From a conceptual point of view, I guess I was feeling my way through ideas relating to transformation and, through the soundtrack, sudden change. Another aspect of his piece (which I have explored in earlier work) was the incorporation of some of my abstract photographs, which are reflected in the surfaces of the shape changing objects featured in ‘Transmute’. It almost seems to me (in retrospect) that I have a real fixation with change, with not sitting still and letting things become too stagnant. Perhaps this is a consequence of my day job (teacher) that has fed into my creative practice. But I digress. I hope you enjoy ‘Transmute’.
