Mihir Desai is a Chicago based Independent Film Maker with a varied show reel that speaks for his talent. He was born and raised in India. A childhood passion for the various arts of painting, dance and acting metamorphosed into a competency for visual narratives. At the age of 16 he made his first short Fate and Dreams (2004) earned recognition as an Official Selection at the Miami International Short Film Festival and the San Francisco International Film Festival. In order to shine his skills further, he joined Columbia College Chicago in 2006 and graduated at 2009 making it to the Dean's List every year. During college, Mihir used his time and resources usefully by initiating independent projects that have had a successful run at various film festivals across USA. Now (2009) at the age of 21, Mihir has been a part of (as producer/director/editor/line producer) as many as 18 films. His latest film Kalpana (2009) recently won the Best Student Film award and was nominated in the Best of the Festival and Best Foreign Film section at the Indie Fest USA 2009, which was held at AMC Downtown Disney, Anaheim, CA. Another of Mihir's music video has been an Official Selection at the Chicago International Reel Shorts Film Festival. Apart from freelancing Mihir along with co-producer Parita Kapadia are in the process of setting up a Production and Design Company called, "Auteur Mark." With strong story lines, that always succeed to impress his audiences, Mihir Desai conveys his support to the true spirit of independent film making. What makes Mihir successful is the support from his parents Bharat Desai and Nita Desai and his best friend Parita Kapadia and his motto in life which is "To make the best out of the least."
