Bea de Visser works as an autonomous visual artist and filmmaker. Starting her career in the early 1980-ies, she works as a sound- and performance artist in the trendy club circuit and artists spaces. Today her work is shown at international exhibitions among which MoMA New York, Woodstreet Galleries Pittsburgh, USA, MuKHA Antwerp, Belgium, National Museum Prague, Czech Republic and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The films are shown world wide at International Film Festivals under which The International Film Festival Rotterdam, Rencontres Internationales in Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, Reina Sophia Madrid and the Jeu de Paume, Paris.
Bea de Visser manages up till the present an independent production company Anotherfilm. In the recent past it has been developed into an initiative participating in projects, of a small genuinely group visual artists and filmmakers that are difficult to realise, as recently Jeroen S. Rozendaal, the drama documentary 'Interzone, poems by Bart Chabot’. Recent productions i.e. ‘Motor’ by Simone Bennett, ‘Chairs Missing’ by Bea de Visser, feature film ‘The Muse’ by Ben van Lieshout (NL) and the international dance project ‘Catastrophes’ in co production with the National Theatre Luxemburg (LU)
Since 2010 Bea de Visser works as a guest advisor at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. She is arts consultant of the Art Collection Lievensbergziekenhuis in Bergen op Zoom. She is also chairman of the board of Short4Dordt Film Festival for Young Talent in Dordrecht. Occasionally she gives workshops and lectures at home and abroad in various disciplines such as film, drama, theater design and fine art.
