The National Film School of Florence was founded in 1999 by Salvatore Vitiello. The purpose of the school is to give to all those who “love” cinema the opportunity to create and produce their own short and full-length films. The school’s philosophy is to let the students express themselves creatively in a stimulating environment. The student should be able to identify with the work that he or she is producing because it is our belief that in this industry, no matter what you create, it has to have conviction. The school’s name derives from this motto, “National Independent Film School”. It is also a way for us to search and value new ideas; which are sometimes overlooked by the current film industry.


La Scuola Nazionale Cinema Indipendente è stata fondata da Salvatore Vitiello nel 1999. Nasce con il preciso intento di dare la possibilità a tutti coloro che amano "fare" cinema di realizzare cortometraggi o lungometraggi di varia natura. La filosofia della scuola è di lasciare esprimere gli allievi nella maniera più libera possibile. L'allievo deve potersi identificare con il lavoro che produce perchè è nostra convinzione che questo "mestiere", in qualsiasi modo lo si faccia, debba essere autentico. Da questo pensiero deriva anche il nome stesso della scuola: "scuola di cinema indipendente", per cercare di valorizzare idee nuove che non sempre vengono accolte dal sistema professionale esistente.
